Caltrain Adding Service for March 26 Soccer Match at SBC Park
Caltrain is offering more service and longer trains when SBC Park hosts El “Súper
Clásico” soccer at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 26.
Peninsula fans converging on the San Francisco ballpark to witness the historic
rivalry of Mexican soccer can take Caltrain and avoid fighting traffic or hunting for
a parking space.
Caltrain’s regular hourly service on Saturday includes arrivals at 5:36 p.m. and 6:36
p.m. Extra cars will be added to accommodate crowds.
Caltrain’s San Francisco terminal at Fourth and King streets is just one block from
SBC Park, and riders can either walk or take Muni’s N-Judah line streetcar to get
there in time for the match.
In addition to a scheduled train departing San Francisco at 10 p.m., Caltrain will add
a southbound special train departing 15 minutes after the end of the game, or when
full, and making all regular local stops to the San Jose Diridon station.
Passengers are reminded that Caltrain is a Proof-of-Payment system and they must
purchase tickets before boarding the train, as tickets are not sold on board. Vending
machines are available at all stations, and tickets also can be purchased on Saturdays
at ticket offices at the San Francisco and San Jose terminals.
For questions about fares and schedules, call 1.800.660.4287 (TDD only 650.508.6448).
Caltrain is a tri-county partnership of San Francisco Municipal Railway, San Mateo
County Transit District and Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. Caltrain
operates 86 weekday trains between San Francisco and San Jose, with commute-hour
service to Gilroy. A total of 62 trains offer service on weekends.
