Caltrain Weekly Maintenance: March 23 – 29, 2008
Overview of Caltrain’s Weekly Maintenance and Construction
Train tracks need frequent maintenance to remain in good order. Caltrain will perform routine maintenance at several locations next week. To avoid train delays the work will take place from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. There will be some construction noise from equipment used to accomplish the work; however, crews will work as quietly as possible. Mountain View
Friday, March 28 to Monday, March 31 the railroad grade crossing at Rengstorff Avenue in Mountain View, between the Central Expressway and California Street, will be closed to allow crews to reconstruct the crossing and adjacent track, as well as resurface the street.
The temporary closure will take place from Friday evening at 8 p.m., until Monday morning when the track will be reopened for regular weekday train service. During these closures, drivers will have to detour around the construction by using Shoreline Boulevard or the San Antonio Road overpass. A free shuttle will be available for pedestrians on Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with stops at Rengstorff Park at Crisanto Avenue for eastbound traffic and at the gas station for westbound traffic.
