Youth Rider Electric Train Contest
PURPOSE: To capture the energy and excitement young people/Bay Area youth have for Caltrain's electrification project, whether it be the implementation, the trains or the launch. Youth riders (18 years and under) will be asked to submit a video essay, it can be a testimonial, a creative point of view, voice over, etc. (upload to Canto), to demonstrate their excitement for electrification and why they should be chosen as a VIP guest to ride the train.
When submitting to Canto, contestants agree to have their content shared by Caltrain as described below.
PRIZE: There will be one winner. Winner will be allowed a plus one (a parent or guardian) to accompany them to Be Our VIP!
HOW TO ENTER:
Contestants will be asked to submit a video, can be a testimonial, a creative point of view, voice over, etc. to demonstrate their excitement for electrification and why they should be chosen as a VIP guest to ride the new electric train. Entries should be vertically filmed, to be used on Reels, TikTok, Shorts, and no longer than 60 seconds.
Alternative Option: A short essay, 250 – 500 words, can also be submitted to socialmedia@caltrain.com answering the following prompt: Tell us why you are excited about Caltrain’s electrification project, and why should you be chosen as a VIP guest to ride the train.
Winner will also be interviewed at the VIP event to capture raw reaction.
* Contest will run from August 1st-August 6th. Winner will be contacted no later than August 9th. All entries must be submitted to Canto along with a release form by the entry deadline of August 6, 2024 at 11:59 pm.
Entries must be consistent with the following guidelines:
- All entries must be filmed behind the yellow line; failure to follow this guideline will lead to automatic disqualification.
- Entries must be free of indecent or obscene material or language, and cannot be abusive or harassing towards any individual or group of individuals regarding race, sex, religion, creed, national origin, age, disability, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation or any legally protected classification (which includes, but is not limited to, epithets or slurs, threats, intimidations, or hostile acts);
- Entries cannot infringe on or violate any copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret, right of publicity, or other intellectual property, proprietary, or contractual right of a third party and cannot contain any personal identification such as license plate numbers, personal names, e-mail addresses or street addresses, other than contestant’s; and
- Entries cannot contain trademarks or logos owned by others or advertise or promote any brand or product of any kind.
Caltrain requires parental consent for all youth riders under the age of 18 to participate in the Be Our VIP Contest. All entries must be submitted with a completed copy of the release form attached to these guidelines.
WINNER SELECTION:
There will be one first place winner, selected by a panel of Caltrain staff. Selection of a winner will be in Caltrain’s sole discretion, and all selections will be final. Entries will be judged based on creativity and originality.
