Caltrain Connects to the Portola Music Festival

Portola is back, and between Caltrain’s half hourly weekend service and the lack of parking near the venue, Caltrain is clearly the best transportation option for concertgoers. The two-day music festival is hosted at San Francisco’s Pier 80 on Saturday, Sept. 28, and Sunday, Sept. 29, at 1:00 p.m., and is approximately a mile walk or a short ride on the Muni T-line from Caltrain’s 22nd Street Station.

Caltrain will be operating its regular weekend service along the Peninsula for the event, which is a short walk from the 22nd Street Station. The last two southbound trains for the evening depart 22nd Street Station at 11:30 p.m. and 12:10 a.m. 22nd Street Station is only accessible by stairs, passengers with accessibility needs should use San Francisco Station where they can transfer to the T-line.

Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system; tickets are not sold onboard trains but can be purchased at station ticket machines or via mobile ticketing before boarding. Day Passes purchased through the mobile app are valid on the day of purchase through the end of the service day. Groups of 15 or more can qualify for a 10% discount if they order in advance.

Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased using the Caltrain mobile app or through ticket machines onsite. The mobile app can be used immediately after parking, as it requires a space number. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day.

Caltrain reminds customers that open alcoholic beverages are prohibited on the trains beginning at 9 p.m. on special event days and nights.
