Caltrain Experiences Unexpected Outage at Morgan Hill Station

The Morgan Hill Caltrain Station lost power at approximately 7:30 a.m. today due to PG&E’s Public Safety Power Outage. Original information provided by PG&E indicating that the station would not be affected by the outage was inaccurate. It is not clear at this time when power will return.

Caltrain apologizes to its riders for any resulting inconvenience. Normal rail operations will continue without interruption throughout the system. Riders traveling to Morgan Hill this evening should use ticket vending machines at their origin station as they normally would. Riders using Clipper cards will not be able to tag off at the station’s Clipper card readers. Instead, Caltrain will have staff on hand at the station with battery-operated Clipper card readers to assist passengers in tagging off.

If outages unexpectedly impact other stations and riders are unable to purchase a ticket or tag on, they are advised to inform their conductor.

If riders have any questions about this outage, please call Caltrain Customer Service at 1.800.660.4287 (TTY 650.508.6448) or visit www.caltrain.com.

About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad celebrated 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor, reduce diesel emissions by 97 percent by 2040 and add more service to more stations.
