Ride Caltrain To SF Pride Festival This Weekend

This weekend, San Francisco will celebrate its 47th annual Pride weekend and Pride Parade, and Caltrain is one of the best ways to you there. The Pride Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 25, on Market Street, from Beale to 8th streets.

To help transport the thousands of people expected to attend the festivities, Caltrain will run the following extra service:

  • Two special trains with limited stops departing from San Jose at 7:55 a.m. and 8:55 a.m.;
  • Three special trains with two extra locals will depart from San Jose at 9:30 a.m. and 10:40 a.m., and one extra Express train will depart Palo Alto at 10:50 a.m. for customers going to Pride activities at the Civic Center or for those going to the 1:05 p.m. Giants Game.

Caltrain will add extra capacity on Sunday evening to accommodate crowds. Pride-goers can also catch post-game trains following the Giants game on Sunday, June 25. Caltrain will run an Express train to Belmont departing 15 minutes after the game and an extra post-game local to San Jose departing 25 minutes after the game.

On Saturday, Caltrain will operate hourly and Baby Bullet regular weekend service. Baseball Service will be provided for the 4:15 p.m. Giants Game.

Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system: tickets aren’t sold onboard trains but can be purchased at ticket machines at the stations. Customers are encouraged to purchase a Day Pass at Caltrain ticket machines to avoid long lines after events. The pass is valid for unlimited rides within zone limits on Caltrain through the last train. Clipper card users are reminded to tag on and tag off.

Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased through ticket machines onsite. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day.

To help make it a pleasant trip for all, Caltrain reminds customers to drink responsibly and to remember that open alcoholic beverages are prohibited on trains departing from San Francisco beginning at 9 p.m. after events.

 About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. Caltrain has enjoyed five years of consecutive monthly ridership increases, surpassing more than 60,000 average weekday riders. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad celebrated 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor, reduce diesel emissions by 97 percent by 2040 and add more service to more stations.
