This weekend, San Francisco will again host one of the oldest and largest Pride celebrations in the world with the annual Pride weekend and Pride Parade. Caltrain is one of the most convenient ways to get you to The City to experience the festivities.
The celebration at Civic Center Plaza begins Saturday, June 23 at noon, and the parade kicks off at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 24. The parade begins on Market Street, and runs to Civic Center where the festival will continue.
Caltrain will add extra trains on Sunday to accommodate the larger crowds expected for the parade, which falls on the same day as a San Francisco Giants game at 1:05 p.m. Caltrain will operate four special northbound trains. The trains will depart the San Jose Diridon Station at 8:09 a.m., 8:33 a.m., 9:41 a.m. and 10:28 a.m. Passengers should be aware that these extra trains will be posted on Caltrain’s visual message signs on station platforms as S01, S03, S05 and S07, respectively. Caltrain will also add extra capacity on Sunday evening to accommodate crowds.
Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system: tickets aren’t sold onboard trains but can be purchased at station ticket machines. In order to avoid the long lines that often accompany major events, passengers are encouraged to buy a Day Pass or use the Caltrain Mobile ticketing app. Clipper card users are reminded to tag on and tag off.
Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased through ticket machines onsite. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day.
To help make it a pleasant trip for all, Caltrain reminds riders to drink responsibly and to remember that open alcoholic beverages are prohibited on trains departing from San Francisco beginning at 9 p.m. on special event and game days.

About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. Caltrain enjoyed five years of consecutive monthly ridership increases, surpassing more than 65,000 average weekday riders. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad celebrated 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor, reduce diesel emissions by 97 percent by 2040 and add more service to more stations.
