Take Public Transit to the Bacon & Brew Fest this Weekend

Pork lovers can make Caltrain and SamTrans part of their journey this weekend to the Bacon & Brew Fest at the San Mateo County Event Center.  Presented by the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the San Mateo County Event Center, the festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. this Saturday, September 23.

Festival-goers can enjoy a variety of bacon fare, food trucks, beer from their favorite breweries, and a margarita and Bloody Mary bar. There will also be live music from Journey Revisited, Aja Vu & Stealin’ Chicago and Kickback, in addition to a children’s zone, and artisans & crafts. General admission for the festival is $10 and tickets can be purchased at www.sanmateobaconbrew.com

With a variety of public transit options in the Peninsula, attendees looking for an easy trip to the event center can take Caltrain or SamTrans to the festival. The event center is located at 2495 S. Delaware St. and is located near the Hillsdale Station. Caltrain’s weekend schedule offers regular service to the station. SamTrans’ Routes ECR and Route 292 have bus stops near the event center.

About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. Caltrain has enjoyed more than five years of consecutive monthly ridership increases, surpassing more than 65,000 average weekday riders earlier this year. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad celebrated 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor, reduce diesel emissions by 97 percent by 2040 and add more service to more stations.
