First time on Caltrain?

Please review our How to Ride Caltrain page for an easy-to-follow step by step guide.

Paying for Your Trip

Caltrain offers several easy ways to pay your fare when traveling to FIFA World Cup events.

Taking Caltrain and VTA to the FIFA World Cup 2026?

Avoid Ticket Lines — Buy Before You Ride!

Caltrain and VTA recommend pre-purchasing the digital World Cup Caltrain/VTA 1-, 2-, or 3-Day Pass for round-trip travel. It’s the best way to skip game-day crowds at ticket machines or avoid having to tap on and off.

To buy a day pass using your phone’s digital wallet and without any need to download a new app, scan here or long-press the QR code on your phone:

Adult Caltrain and VTA 1-Day QR Code

You can also download the Token Transit or Transit app,  search for “VTA” under transit agency in the Transit app fares menu, then select the “Adult Caltrain and VTA” ticket type

How Token Transit Works

Valid June 1st to the end of service on July 1st, 2026, for unlimited ride on Caltrain and VTA Local Bus and Light Rail. Passes are good for 1, 2, or 3 days from activation until the end of service day.

Example: 3-day Caltrain/VTA pass purchased on Thursday, June 11. Pass activated Saturday, June 13. Pass will be available for unlimited rides until 3 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16.

For VTA service and fare Info, worldcup.vta.org.

Caltrain + VTA Paper Day Passes

Caltrain station ticket machines can also print a joint adult Caltrain + VTA Day Pass. The Caltrain portion is valid to Zone 3 — perfect for customers heading to SF Bay Area Stadium or Great America — and costs an additional $7.50 compared to a Caltrain Day Pass. The joint pass is valid on Caltrain through the last train of the night and on VTA local buses and light rail until 3 a.m.

Buy or Tap Before You Ride!

Caltrain riders can pay their fare in several ways:

  • Tap a contactless credit or debit card on the Clipper validator on the platform, including Apple Pay or Google Pay,
  • Use Clipper in a mobile wallet,
  • Use a physical Clipper card, or
  • Purchase a paper ticket from a ticket vending machine at any station.

If you tap on before your trip, don’t forget to tap off after your trip to avoid incorrect charges.

Visit caltrain.com/fares/how-buy/clipper and caltrain.com/fares for full details on all fare and payment options.

Mountain View Parking Limited

Please be aware that parking at the Mountain View Caltrain station is extremely popular during major events and typically reaches capacity several hours before the event. To avoid congestion, consider parking at alternative Caltrain stations along the line. A Daily Parking Permit may be purchased for $5.50 from a Ticket Vending Machine (24-hour limit from time of purchase) or via the ParkMobile app.

From Mountain View, you can easily connect to the VTA Orange Line for direct service to the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium.

Visit, caltrain.com/rider-information/parking to learn more.

Plan for Crowds and Extra Security

Caltrain connects with the VTA Orange Line at the Mountain View Station. Once at Levi’s Stadium Great America station, enter and exit the stadium through Gate A.

SF Bay Area Stadium and surrounding transit stations will be extremely busy before and after World Cup events. Give yourself extra time for any ticket purchases, security screening, and transit boarding.

Alcohol Policy

Caltrain reminds customers that open alcoholic beverages are allowed on the trains until 9 p.m. Caltrain encourages riders to drink responsibly.

Bikes and Luggage

All trains have dedicated bike storage cars and overhead racks for personal items. Please store items securely and stay near your belongings during your trip.

To help keep the ride safe and comfortable for everyone, keep seats, stairways, and aisles clear of bags and other obstructions.

Please note that bike lockers at the Mountain View Station will be closed four hours before and after each game.
