The San Jose Earthquakes will face their rivals the Los Angeles Galaxy in their annual grudge match at Stanford Stadium on Saturday night, and Caltrain will be offering plenty of service to ensure that soccer fans get to the match on time. The Major League Soccer game will start at 7:30 p.m., and Caltrain’s Stanford Stadium station is just a short walk away from the playing field. Caltrain will have five northbound trains—the 441, 443, 445, 449 and 451 lines—and six southbound trains—the 438, 440, 442, 446, 448 and 450 lines—stop at the station. To get an estimate for when the trains will arrive, fans should check Caltrain’s weekend schedule here. The Stanford Stadium station doesn't have a ticket machine or Clipper card reader, so fans are encouraged to purchase a Day Pass from their origin station. Passengers traveling with a Clipper card other than a Monthly Pass should use the Palo Alto station, which is about a ½ mile north of the Stanford Stadium. Tickets must be purchased before boarding Caltrain. Customers should be prepared for crowded trains as Caltrain will be providing service for the San Francisco Giants games and the SF Pride celebration also occurring this weekend. Open alcoholic beverages aren’t permitted on Caltrain beginning at 9 p.m. on special event days. The Earthquakes home contests are usually played at Avaya Stadium, a pitch in San Jose that opened up in 2015. Fans attending Earthquakes game at that stadium can take Caltrain to Santa Clara station and transfer to Valley Transportation Authority’s Line 10 for a 10-minute ride to the playing site. Caltrain is a proof-of-purchase system. Tickets must be purchased before boarding the train at station ticket machines, or customers can use a valid Clipper card. For fare and schedule information, call 1.800.660.4287 (TTY 650.508.6448) or visit www.caltrain.com. Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5 for the day, and permits can be purchased at station ticket machines. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day.

About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. Caltrain has enjoyed five years of consecutive monthly ridership increases, surpassing more than 60,000 average weekday riders earlier this year. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad celebrated 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor, reduce diesel emissions by 97 percent by 2040 and add more service to more stations.
