Classical music fans know that you can’t hit a wrong note by taking Caltrain to the Opera at the Ballpark event at AT&T Park on Saturday. The San Francisco Opera will present a live simulcast of Bizet’s “Carmen” at the baseball stadium on Saturday, July 2 at 7:30 p.m. Caltrain’s San Francisco station is located just a block away from AT&T Park. To accommodate the crowds, Caltrain will run a special post-event train on the night of the opera.

The train will leave 25 minutes after the end of the simulcast. It will make all local stops, including the Broadway and Atherton stations. Caltrain runs hourly service between San Jose and San Francisco on Saturday, along with two express Baby Bullet trains. Open alcoholic beverages are prohibited on trains departing San Francisco beginning at 9 p.m. on special event evenings. Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system; tickets are not sold on board trains but can be purchased at ticket machines at the stations. To save time on the return trip, fans are encouraged to buy a Day Pass. Clipper card users (cash value and 8-ride tickets) are reminded to tag on and tag off. For fare and schedule information, visit www.caltrain.com or call 1.800.660.4287 (TTY 650.508.6448.) Starting on July 1, parking at Caltrain stations will cost $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased at station ticket machines. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day.

About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. Caltrain has enjoyed five years of consecutive monthly ridership increases, surpassing more than 60,000 average weekday riders earlier this year. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad celebrated 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor, reduce diesel emissions by 97 percent by 2040 and add more service to more stations.
