Hockey Season is Back Already and Caltrain is Ready to Take Sharks Fans to the SAP Center

While it may feel like their magical playoff run just concluded yesterday, the San Jose Sharks are already gearing up for the 2016-17 season, with their first exhibition contest scheduled for September 27. With the San Jose Diridon Station located just across the street from the Shark’s home ice at the SAP Center, Caltrain is the perfect way for fans to travel to the team’s games. The Sharks’ preseason opener against the Vancouver Canucks is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday, and Caltrain’s weekday schedule includes plenty of trains that will arrive in San Jose before the puck drops. The last train departs San Jose Diridon station at 10:30 p.m. or 15 minutes after the game ends but departs no later than 10:45 p.m. The train makes all regular local stops. After years of postseason disappointments, the Sharks finally broke through last season, earning a spot in the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in franchise history. Although the team fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the finals, hopes are high this season that the squad will finally take home their first ever Stanley Cup Championship. Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system; tickets are not sold onboard trains but can be purchased at vending machines at the stations. To save time on the return trip, fans are encouraged to buy a Day Pass. Clipper card users (cash value and 8-ride tickets) are reminded to tag on and tag off. Open alcoholic beverage containers are not allowed onboard trains starting at 9 p.m. Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased at station ticket machines.
